LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM BOOSTS QUALITY CONTROL TO NEW HIGH

A non-destructive leak detection system for rigid or flexible packaging is set to take
quality control in manufacturing to a new level. South Australian company SI Instruments will showcase the new leak detection system at foodpro 2008 in July.

With safety and traceability of the utmost importance in manufacturing, this new system has an on-board database which connects to a computer via a Blue Tooth connection. Data from up to 10,000 tests can be stored for traceability.

“Most of our product range is used for ongoing checking of the quality of manufactured products. With this system even small leaks of only 10 μm can be detected. It combines speed and precision with simplicity and ease of use for convenience,” SI Instruments’ Eric St.Martins said.

The leak detection system consists of a transparent vacuum chamber combined with a user-friendly digital controller. The vacuum chamber gives 360 degree visibility, and allows visual pinpointing of any leak, as well as being a convenient size – internal dimensions are 400 x 300 x 220mm. Custom-made sizes are available upon request.

Mr St.Martins said the leak detection system and the Food Texture Analyzer will be demonstrated during foodpro 2008. The Food Texture analyzer from Food Technology combines flexibility of programming with powerful analysis software to cater for all types of food texture analysis.

Mr St.Martins  invited show attendees to bring along samples they would like to have tested.  To view the system visit stand 5139 during foodpro 2008.
